Club Trips Out
December 2015 at Oswestry
Four of us visited the Cambrian Railway Museum at Oswestry under the guidance of museum curator Lionel Wass. Our mission? To boldly go where ... No, sorry, wrong show, though we did see a cupboard and a goods van that positively cried out for deep exploration. Now, where was I ... Oh yes, to find copies of track plans of Ellesmere station and yards in our quest to rebuild our original layout in the near future. We also were keen on track plans of Oswestry and Gobowen as possible future builds, though we may have to move to even larger premises to fulfill that dream.
Lionel was more than kind and generous to us, presenting us with photocopies of Ellesmere and allowing us to photograph the various other track plans; Andrew Tullo even took a photo of Lionel and the motley quartet (possibly just in case we made off with exciting treasures and goodies tucked inside our coats).
Thank you for your kind courtesy and tremendous help; it was very much appreciated and just goes to show what a wonderful thing that enthusiasm and appreciation for both our hobby and our heritage is. We look forward to becoming more involved with the museum whenever possible.

The club had its Christmas bash at The Greyhound in St Martins on Tuesday evening 2nd February 2016... A great time was had by all with an extensive menu & superb food. Entertainment was supplied by Pam & husband Richard, and a general knowledge quiz set by Jim.
Many thanks to Barbara and her team at the Greyhound for looking after us so well. See you again soon!

Saturday 12th March 2016 at Llangollen
This afternoon we were given a conducted tour by Robert Jacques around the workshops and yards at Llangollen Railway. Due to Health & Safety regulations numbers were limited and some areas were off limits, but it was still an exciting time for us to see what does go on in the workshops.
The last time I was there, engine no 7822 Foxcote Manor was in pieces undergoing her 10 year service and I was able to actually get inside the firebox as the boiler was laid on its side. Today saw Foxcote Manor together once more, having just had its boiler fired up the day before, and was undergoing painting in BR black.
Thanks to Ian and David A for allowing me to use some of their photos as well as my own.
